Rome, Italy

A brief love letter to pasta:

Dear Pasta,

You are my everything.

Love, Ashley

Livin’ la dolce vita in Italy is always a good idea. The landscape, people, and culture are truly spectacular. But I can’t deny the main reason for Italy being one of my favorite countries. It’s the pasta.

I could marry Italy, but pasta is my LOVER.

And it’s no secret that the best lovers are made in the form of perfectly al dente homemade goodness that comes directly from an Italian grandmother’s recipe straight into your mouth.

And there’s nothing better than the pasta that is served IN the pan it’s cooked in at Taverna Trilussa in Rome.

It’s located in a happening area, in the heart of Trastevere, one of my favorite areas in Rome, also popular with locals.

The pasta is enough reason to go, but it racks up major extra credit points for the scene and the prosciutto menu.

Taverna Trilussa is always buzzing, given the most popular hour to dine is post 10pm even on a Monday. If weather allows, sit outside and to start, take in the extensive prosciutto menu. It’s an entire menu dedicated to prosciutto and Italian cured meats. If you’re in the mood, add a side of burrata and melons. It’s great foreplay…

Back to the love of my life and the main event. Pasta.

The pasta arrives steaming hot, right in the pan it was cooked in. You’ll want to take your first bite before you can say grazie. You can’t go wrong with any pasta on the menu, but they’re particularly known for both the Ravioli Mimosa and Bucatini All’ Amatriciana. The ravioli recipe is their dirty little secret and while the bucatini is Rome’s most famous dish, Taverna Trilussa may just do it best.

Oh pasta, you had me at Ciao. But we really took our relationship to the next level when you introduced me to Taverna Trilussa.

I’ll be thinking of you, mio amore… until we meet again.
